In some commentaries, hovering over the Bible reference in the commentary headings, the Bible text does not display in quick view. See screenshot.

The quick view reports "This reference is not found in this Bible".

Sometimes the text displays and other times it does not display. I am not sure I have noticed a sure-fire pattern.

When I get this error, it does not matter what translation I am using in the Bible view.

I use IDX a lot and click on commentary links from IDX. I do not know if this workflow is part of the problem.

Here is a step-by-step that triggers the problem. Before these steps I was on 1Jn 4.11 in the Bible view and clicked on Cambridge commentary in the commentary view. Everything worked OK in that scenario.

in Bible view : navigate to 1Jn 4.11

in IDX > commentaries, unfold Cambridge

click on 1Jn 5.9 (or any of the hits in IDX > Cambridge)

in commentary view, hover over 1Jn 5:9 in the entry heading

error in quick view


NOTE : @1Jn 4.11 the Cambridge commentary is not highlighted as having any content. The commentary dropdown shows "1Jo 4:11. When I click on the dropdown, nothing shows up in the dropdown. However, when I change "1Jo" to "1Jn", an option for 1Jn 4:11 displays.

Could there be something in Cambridge that does not recognize 1Jo as a valid abbreviation for 1John? If so, could that be messing up the Cambridge-IDX integration?

Does it do this no matter what Bible you have selected in the Bible panel?

I cannot reproduce this problem. The passage shows correctly in the Quick View on my Win10 system. See below:
As an aside, I didn't know anything about Quick View and never used it before now, so far as I can recall.

I can reproduce it. Hover over the reference in the heading. Nothing pops up.

The area you have shown with a red border, with the cursor, in the IDX is not where I have my problem. It is in the Cambridge commentary, in the commentary view, on the entry heading reference "1 John 4:11". I expected that to be a reference link but that is were I get an error.

It does not seem to matter what Bible is selected in the Bible panel.

I tried it with several Bibles. Same result. Nothing pops up when hovering in the heading.

The issue is the heading link in Cambridge is malformed. It has "1Jn" as the book when it should be "1Jo".

When I get time I'll correct this.

I am confused. Here, the dropdown at upper right is a problem (red border in the screenshot, showing 1Jo). It makes it so BA thinks there are no entries.

Apart from the IDX integration, involving the header (green border in the screenshot, showing 1Jn) — 1Jn works fine there to show the Bible text in quick view. (It is only when used in conjuction with IDX links that I experience a problem RE quick view.)

I hope that is not too confusing.

I can make a short video to show what is going on here if that would help.
