LexiScope Suggetion

Post by darrel_jw »

I do a search for "kjv=fornication" and it returns 36 results. Now, I understand that you right click on a verse and you display the Phrases chart, and that works very well.

But (and I don't know if this is intended or not), after displaying the search results you can click the various charts button, display the charts window and then display the Phrases chart. It opens the Phrases chart for the first returned data row (in this example that is Mat 5:32). I would expect that when I either press the down-arrow button or click the down-arrow button on the verse list it would use the results from the query search as its data pool, and therefore (in this example) display the Phrases for Mat 15:19. But LS displays Phrases for Mat 5:33 (totally unrelated to our query results)!

I would like to keep this feature but have the charts data pool use the query results. Is that possible?

Is anything happening with this request?

Yes, that's the way it is setup to work. The Verse dropdown in Phrases only lists the verses of the chapter of whatever triggered it to open, either the right-click verse or the first row of results.

Before the charts window opens it does a lot of things. One is it calculates the number of hits of each phrase type in real time and if there were many verses, as there can be with some query results, there would be a noticeable lag. this way there is no more than a chapter's worth of verses to scan which is not very detrimental to performance.

Anyway, when the Phrases tab is open you can still right-click in the main results grid and update the page that way.

I guess I'm still missing something. I do a search for the word temptation, and it returns 20 rows. Now if I understand correctly those 20 rows should be my data pool used in the charts. Thus, when I click the charts button, followed by the Phrases button it will display phrases for the first roe, Mat 6:13. The next row it should be Mat 26:31 - NOT Mat 6:14! The only rows that have any bearing on what I want to see are the 20 rows in my query results. Am I correct in my thinking?

I had it set up the way you describe initially, but when a search was made with a lot of results, processing all that data to get the Phrases for each verse made a noticeable lag and a very long and unmanageable dropdown list. So as mentioned earlier, only the chapter of the selected verse is loaded by Phrases. This also retains verse context.

To get the next query hit instead, just right click in the cell you want to update the Phrases.
