Search bar for the ACF-VL-WL filter is grayed out in Books menu

When I open BA and try to enter search criteria into the search window in the books viewer I can't because it is grayed out... can anyone help?

The ACF only works after a search is made. Search for any word using the Quick Entry (Alt+Q) or Master Control Panel, then the button should be active. It uses the search results as its filter filter base.
