Re: Bible Analyzer 5.6 beta (Linux)

Thank you Tim and Brother Mike , that has provided clarity. I am indeed using a Nvidia GPU, so I've tested again under X11, to try and isolate the issue to either Nvidia or Wayland. I can confirm, that under X11, BibleAnalyzer launches without issue, and without the "WEBKIT_DISABLE_DMABUF_RENDE...

Release news and notes

Hi Tim! I have a couple of thoughts I wish to offer if I may, that might assist me as a current package maintainer for Bible Analyzer. It relates to communication for releases, and each releases requirements, if they have changed. An RSS feed that announces version updates. This might be tied to a b...

Re: Bible Analyzer 5.6 beta (Linux)

Hi Tim. I'm currently the package maintainer for Bible Analyzer on Arch. I'm currently working on updating the package to 5.6.5.04 . I've noted an issue launching Bible Analyzer under Wayland, which seems related to the advice Brother Mike offered. I'm not sure if this is a new issue to 5.6.5.04, as...

Re: Arch Linux support?

I've managed to get this to work. What was missing with respect to python-espeak, was python-distutils-extra . For the reference of others, these were the included dependencies: python python-wxpython python-mutagen python-lxml python-configobj python-pillow python-espeak webkit2gtk-4.1 This was nee...

Re: Arch Linux support?

espeak-ng is the maintained fork of espeak. This 2021 note from Alexander Epaneshnikov , one of the Arch Linux package maintainers says: espeak is unmaintained for a long time. espeak-ng is a new active fork. we need to switch dependent packages to espeak-ng and then remove espeak from the reposito...

Re: Arch Linux support?

Hi @Tim. I'm working on the 5.6.1 release Arch AUR package , but I've hit an issue. So far I've updated dependencies to include: python (currently 3.13.1) python-wxpython python-mutagen python-lxml python-configobj Where I'm hitting some trouble, is with espeak. As that project has essentially been ...

5.5.1.02 Download Manager crash

This is as much a question of, is it just me, or is it everyone? When going to either: Modules > Module Download Manager Modules > Download Purchased Modules It will throw an error: Internet Access Not Available Bible Analyzer does not have internet access to download the module information. If inte...

Re: Arch Linux support?

Thanks Tim. I have it successfully launching, leveraging Python 3.10 and python-wxpython 4.2.0, but there's still a couple things to work out (some absent GTK libs). All going well, I hope to have an update on the AUR shortly. The issues preventing launch that I encountered, were the result of it lo...

Re: Arch Linux support?

If someone wants to try and convert the deb over, be my guest. But I simply don't have time to deal with all the various distros. I'd like to have a crack at getting the Arch AUR version working again. I maintain the AUR packages for a couple other bible apps already. I'm wrestling with identifying...
