Module Compatibility?

Post by Simon »

Hiya Tim,

Are your modules cross-compatible with any other Bible Programs?

Is it possible to use modules from other sources such as Zefania or SWORD modules? Or is there a converter available?

http://zefania-sharp.sourceforge.net/
http://www.crosswire.org/sword/modules/

Thx,
Simon.

No, the modules are not compatible with any other software I know of, however I am working on importers for Zefania XML and THML modules. If anyone knows their way around Python and wants to dabble with making modules, let me know and I will send you a script to try out.

In the meanwhile, if there is a public domain or permission granted text you want converted, let me know.

Continuing this thread (because I think it's applicable, it it's not you are free to move this a new thread), this could be my lack of education in this area but I was wondering if it is possible to convert Sword (not E-Sword) modules over to Bible Analyzer, using the tools currently available. If not would you consider working on a tool that will?

The Sword project modules are in a proprietary, binary format that is difficult to convert. It is not likely we will spend the time to make a converter, especially since almost all their modules are available in other, easier formats.

What modules were your interested in converting?

I'm surprised about that, because the Sword Project itself is an open source project. I guess I just assumed the modules would be also being that they only allow modules (with a few exceptions) that are in the public domain. Anyway, one particular module I was interested in and maybe even one I would like to see expanded is called

Old Testament Passages cited in the New Testament.

This module resides in they beta section at http://crosswire.org/sword/modules/ModD ... &beta=true.

The expansion I wouldn't mind seeing someday is going the other way around. Citing the OT passages that correlate with the NT.

Hi Tim,

I noticed the post concerning importing modules from The Sword Project to BA. Even though this can't be done directly, there is a way to import certain sword project modules. There's a utility available that will allow you to convert sword project modules to Zefania XML. Once this has been done, you can import the Zefania XML module to BA. It's fairly limited as to what the utility will do currently, but I've found it to be useful. It can be downloaded from: http://zefania.blogspot.com/search/label/Zefania%20XML
