Should we discuss doctrine and other topics here?

Postby Atlas » Fri May 01, 2009 10:48 pm

Guys,

Should we discuss doctrine and other topics here?

I have seen many fight break out over very small issues. I think it would be good to discuss doctrine and other issues as long as everyone is nice.

Sure, feel free to discuss doctrine here if you wish. But as you said, all need to be cordial.

Tim,

Good deal my friend. It may help build up the site a little bit and help us all learn a little more about the Bible.

Hello Atlas, Hello Tim.

If I may...when Christians get together it is always a good sign to want to discuss the Scriptures and the things of God. I myself would love to share and also learn from other members of the Body for this is one of the purposes of Christ in each of us, to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.
I must add, that the Scripture does give instruction to believers as to how to disagree, and yes, even how to argue. Paul entered the synagogues and one school of Tyrannus and argued red in the face and spitting saliva in every word that came out his mouth in trying to show that this Jesus was the Christ (and I am sure he did not sin).
One more thing, in the Body of Christ, in true Biblical Christianity, there is no such thing as "agree to disagree" for this is worldly thought/philosophy, and it leaves brethren divided. I suggest that if brethren are going to discuss doctrine, which is the basis and foundation of all we say and do in our new life in Christ, that the person be ready to receive a "I don't agree" or a "You're wrong/error" etc., BUT if this were to occur that these two discuss it out and the rest of us as instructed observe in order to witness the exchange to determine who before God is approved (1 Cor. 11:18-19). It is my contention that we all have different measures of faith (true faith is based on knowledge), and that some may not have a depth or insight as another and since we are all farmers in a sense, that we plant and water and leave it at that. I would also tend to believe that all who may join may not all be true Christian. This must also be considered in order to discern the true brethren from the false (1 Jn. 4:1). You cannot force the "natural man" (1 Cor. 2:14) to truly understand the Word and Spirit of Christ. It is foreign to them. Sure, you can see an unregenerate interpret John 11:35 "Jesus wept," but overall, the things of God are reserved for the people of God as the Word of God is for believers ONLY.
I look forward to reading and responding and discovering you, your gift, and your place in the Body of Christ.
Thank you, Atlas; thank you Tim.
