Importing User Notes
I see how to export user notes but what how do you import them if you are using bible analyzer on a replacement computer?
Re: Importing User Notes
User notes are saved in the file "notes.usr" found in your User Data Folder. To find this folder go to Tools/Display User Data Folder in the Bible Analyzer main menu. You can copy the file to your new installation's User Data Folder and it should display your notes.
It is also best to backup this file from time to time to save your notes in case of computer or hard drive failure.

Re: Importing User Notes
Using BA4, Portable on Windows 7, installed under ">Program Files (x86) > BA 4 Portable > Modules", while I also see the "C:\Users\CADean\Documents\Bible Analyzer User Modules folder.
I do not find the "user-notes.usr" file anywhere, yet I'm testing it and it appears to work great, but where is the file?? (I've used "Search" from the Start Menu (Windows 7) as well, and still not found.
nor do I find the "Exported" .txt version in the intended:
C:\Users\CADean\Documents\Bible Analyzer User Modules ...or anywhere else "Searched".
...also directly looking in each of the following folders:
"Display User Data Folder" (defaulting to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Bible Analyzer 4 Portable)
/ nor "User Modules Folder" (defaulting also to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Bible Analyzer 4 Portable\Modules)
/ nor the "Primary Modules Folder" (defaulting to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Bible Analyzer 4 Portable\Modules).
Is there a particular "Path" it is looking for when exporting??
..... where are both the .usr + .txt files ?? .... I would like to start using the notes as they are intended.
Thank you, Catherine

Re: Importing User Notes
With the Portable installation the notes.usr and user-notes.txt files are in the main application folder, which in your case should be, C:\Program Files (x86)\Bible Analyzer 4 Portable. See the image below,

Re: Importing User Notes
Thank you for providing what 'should be", but still not found - yet still works in the program, but still no exporting anywhere to a .txt file (= no .usr and no .txt files found) ..... PrtSc to pdf copies attached of both main C: & Expansion G: drives. (I've also UN-hidden any viewable files).
But awe! I do see a "notes.usr" (vs user-notes.usr) file in my older 3.8 Portable version folder .... but, no option to convert to .txt and as a copied file into the BA4 Portable file and re-opening the BA Program (to re-index) did not work.
Additionally, to the confusion of not finding either a .usr or .txt file, is that the Export Notes Info window states where to find the .txt file under:
C:\Users\CADean\Documents\Bible Analyzer User Modules
Can a blank "User-notes.usr file be provided to me? ....but, then how and what / where is the Notes file that appears to be working fine IN the program windows?????
Thank you again, Catherine
PS ....I was going to send you .pdf copies of my proof that both the .usr and .txt files are nowhere to be found, but.... this forum does not allow..... therefore, if you think I don't understand what you've shown, I can email them to you.... my whole and multiple drives have been "searched". I hope you can advise me why - last time, does the Notes Window work, yet, NOT the file?
1 Laptop Should be but not
2 Expansion Drive Should be but not
3 Expansion Drive Old notes usr found
4 Export Notes Info
5 To be found here per Export Notes Info but not

Re: Importing User Notes
The file must exist for your notes to be saved. If it is missing Bible Analyzer makes a new blank one at startup.
Do you have a config4.ini file in your portable folder? The notes.usr file should be in the same folder.
If you want you can email (morton@bibleanalyzer.com) me a screenshot of your folder contents so we can see what all is in there.

Well...I bet the files are here,
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\[APPNAME]
If a user is not running as Administrator Windows redirects the files to a virtual folder, and that seems to be the case here.
If you move or copy the whole BA folder to your /Documents folder and then run BA from there the other files should show up.
Tim
AWESOME !! THANK YOU !! .... but very weird !!! So I tested the "Exporting" and found the text version in the same folder Thank Yoooouuuu!! Catherine
