New version?

Post by MyWereld »

Will there be a new version release for Linux any time soon? I think 4.1 was a huge success, and it filled a void in Linux, especially for me.

There are other options available for Linux, but this is by far the best there is! I would appreciate it if there was an new release (possibly a 4.3 for Linux?)

We will probably make 4.3 available for Linux sometime, but we get very few requests or comments for the Linux edition. It seems Bible software is not much in demand in the Linux community. We get many more requests for Mac, "smart phone" (Android, tablets, etc.) editions. We have to delegate our very limited time to what will best distribute the Scriptures.

That is really sad news indeed.

The problem with other Bible software on Linux is that they only focus on English and other languages are very hard to come by or very poorly supported.

Beside the fact that BibelAnalyzer is way superior to the other offerings on Linux, you helped me create a module for BibelAnalyzer in the language of my birth a couple of months ago, and I'm still grateful for that.
I understand the issue of manpower, if I was any better at coding I would have gladly offered my services, but thank you for what you have done so far anyway, if it is only from me I'm very, very grateful for what you have done!

I too, have really appreciated you keeping up with a linux version. I see that bibleanalyzer is now on 4.5 and we are still on 4.1. Has the linux version ceased being developed? Can we expect any future updates?

Yes, we are presently working on an update of the Linux version to 4.5. It should be ready soon.

The Linux edition of Bible Analyzer seems to not have generated much interest in the Linux community. If v4.5 does not arouse more interest we will not be able to spend much more time on it.
