Bible Analyzer 4.6 in Ubuntu Software Center

After around 10 days of testing, Ubuntu has just notified us that it has placed Bible Analyzer in the Ubuntu Software Center. As of this writing it is not yet on the servers but should be soon. You should be able to find it by just typing Bible or Bible Analyzer

No default folder changes were required for inclusion. The primary folder is still
usr/share/bibleanalyzer/modules

The app in the Software Center is the same as the last beta posted here in the forum. I'm not yet sure about how to submit future updates, but if Bible Analyzer gain users from the Software Center, we will regularly update it.

Those of you who feel Bible Analyzer is of benefit to the Linux community, please consider writing a review on Bible Analyzer's Software Center page.

Thank you all for your encouragement and help.

Woo-hoo, Tim

Praise the Lord for this great milestone for Bible Analyzer.

I am very appreciative for all of your hard work in the 4.6 update and getting BA in the Software Center.

Downloaded from the software center and all seemed to work well. I am trying to review, but having some issues on that. Will try later if unable to at this time.

Thanks again, Tim.

Thank you, Brother, and the other Linux users for all your help.

I see now that Bible Analyzer is live in the Center. We will see what the Lord does with it.

It will not allow reviews unless you install from the SC. I will keep at it though. Will want to backup in case I need to remove it and re-install.

You should be able to copy the modules folder somewhere and then uninstall and reinstall from the Software Center. Then copy the modules folder back...but I haven't tried it through the center.

How exciting! This is awesome!

I'm having trouble installing. I hit the buy button and nothing. I'm running 64-bit. Anybody else have problems?

Funny enough, Canonical sent me an email thanking me for getting it.

If it's not ready for download yet, we can't leave a review until it's downloaded but I did like on Facebook!

However, my installations of BA were through the software center, after downloading from the BA website. I just tried to do a review, but it was not possible due to the point of origin being unknown. Thus, I guess I have to uninstall BA and then reinstall through the software center entry. However, I do not think it will appear until there is a software center update. So... I don't know. If anyone figures it out, please let us know and I will do a review.

So if BA is in the Ubuntu software center, then isn't that also what Mint and others use, so that it is everywhere.

The problem now is, that until Ubuntu users do a new install, they are not going to know it is there. There has to be a way to get the word out. However, comparatively speaking BA beats the other programs with a stick, unless they've done some major improvements I don't know about. The others are so bad, I'd rather go back to Windows for bible software.

Congratulations, Tim!!!!

We've got to keep praying -- for it to become known and for no problems to arise that cannot be dealt with quickly and routinely. Also -- le't's keep praying for the development of the program in Linux. I've been praying for this to happen for years, as I believe in BA.

Praise God for his Word in Linux.

Unfortunately Mint Software Center is not the Ubuntu Software Center. Mint uses Ubuntu respositories. Applications and Games "sold" (whether free or not) are not in the standard repositories and therefore only in Ubuntu Software Center.

If you use any flavor of Ubuntu (Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Mint, PinguyOS, etc...) the installation of Ubuntu Software Center is as easy as

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install software-center

As far as the other Linux applications go, Xiphos is truly an amazing product. Not quite as feature rich as BA though. For me BA is the only place I can get great premium modules, that I know are practically guaranteed to be as conservative as possible.

For instance, BA is the only place on Earth where you can get "Understanding The Bible Commentary" in software form. I'm pretty sure it's the only software module for any bible program that has every one of these features: Dispensational in theology, Pre-Trib Rapture, Pre-millennial, King James/traditional-text based, Baptism by immersion, Six-day literal creation, Literal in hermeneutics, Concise style of writing,
Discreet use of original languages. Say what you will about your belief in these areas, but to get one source that clearly lays out all of the beliefs is hard to find. Now if only I could afford it. :) Eventually, **sigh**.

BA is now in the software center. Yes, they will not allow a review until the application is installed from the software center.

As far a people finding it, all they will need to do is search for Bible and BA, at least on my system, was at the top of the list. I believe that it is alphabetical. The same way I found most of the other Bible applications for Ubuntu I have tried.

It did not allow me to do a re-install, also because my copy was not an "official" software center install.
