No, I did not have config4.ini -- not before, not now. Just config.ini

Bible Analyzer 4 changed the location of stuff, it is no longer in .bibleanalyzer it is located in Documents/BibleAnalyzer So they shouldn't have conflicted.

I don't have Documents/BibleAnalyzer

Did you see my post at the end of page two, on the results of the commands you told me to try?

Try the post below before doing all this!

Paul,

Thanks for pointing that out! I missed that post. My human imperfections are shinning today. :) I really am not sure of those errors, seems as though python is trying to import something that doesn't exist on the system. Odd, I'm really not sure, I sure hope Bro. Tim has an idea about that. I updated two computers here and neither had any issues. I assume you are running i386. Did you have problems before and did we tinker with any settings before?

Let's do this, since it doesn't work, I can troubleshoot the installation and Linux side of stuff.
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get purge bibleanalyzer

Then:
Code: Select all
sudo ls -shl /usr/share/bibleanalyzer/*

You should get an error on that second command that the directory doesn't exist. However if it does, we will remove it like this: (ONLY run this if the above didn't show an error, we are going to delete the old install manually, type carefully, or copy and paste it.)
Code: Select all
cd /usr/share/ && sudo rm -fr bibleanalyzer

Then we can re-install it and give it a second go:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install bibleanalyzer

After that, try again the bibleanalyzer in the terminal, and if you get an error, again paste it, unless it is the same. We will go from there. If you have any doubts or questions, post before you do.

WAIT Paul,

Before you do all that in the above post I just read that this should solve your problem:

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install python-configobj

Apparently you don't have that on your system. We need to add that as one of the dependencies. Let me know if that works for you.

Shane,

I pasted this command in the terminal --
sudo apt-get install python-configobj
Stuff got installed.

Now, BA opens and works. Looks like a pretty impressive layout. I'll check it out soon in more detail.

Problem solved.

OK, I've used the program a little bit -- it is a very nice improvement, but there were some problems.

First, let me note that BA does appear in Documents and it has the config4.ini file. However, the BA file is still present in the Home folder. To get all the modules I had, I had to move the modules folder to the BA/Documents file. That took some time to figure out. I guess I do not need that BA folder in the Home folder, so I can delete it. I guess.

There are two new features that are extremely nice, except they do not work. A new window indicates what verse is highlighted. However, if I type in a verse to go to it, a screen comes up saying the verse is not recognized, and it does not matter how I type the reference.

Font enlargement is a real help. However, it does not work from the keyboard, only the menu (but it did increase for me just once on the keyboard, after many attempts). And however, only the increase works from the menu, not the decrease. If I hit F7, in going to another chapter, it might also decrease the font. If I continue to increase, it might decrease after a few trys. Basically, there are three or four font sizes, and sometimes they just go in a cycle.

However, at times I need a bigger font, like at restaurant conditions, and basically I can at least increase, even if I cannot control how it happens.

These features are very good additions, so I'll pray over their repair.

Actually, there are a lot of things in BA that I just can't get to for testing, as I have other projects going on. The day will come.
