Maybe the problem with the RTL display of Hebrew text is due to the way the wxWidgets library that Tim uses in BibleAnalyzer handles RTL fonts. Not being familiar with wxWidgets or how RTL fonts are handled in the Windows API, I'm not able to competently comment on this other than to speculate. I think Wine does support using genuine Windows DLLs, but knowing which one's to replace would take some research and perhaps some trial and error.
I'm not familiar with "DAVAR4" and just now found it with Google's help. I'll have to take a look at this, although it is a shame that it's also not available natively for Linux. Have you taken a look at BibleTime? It's available for Linux and I prefer it to Xiphos. One shortcoming with these SWORD based Bible study programs (it seems to me) is the lack of modules available. I believe the only modules I've found are those allowed by copyright holders or are public domain. I like free stuff but sometimes there are things that you have to spend a few bucks on.
