BA-iOS? Any chance?

Post by Jeffell »

Tim, A multitude of thanks for building the Mac Version! I have been stuck in Windows for years since the only Bible study software was a Win-Only (no names). That author has refused to even consider a Mac version. You have made it possible to get what I needed for study in my Mac, and I thank you.

Now, after Mac OS-X, and after Linux, is there any chance of moving BA to something that will run on an iPad? An app for iOS, perhaps? The choices today are slim, and prices horrible, for portable Bible study.

Anyway, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Any chance? Not really.

The reason is the Windows, Mac, and Linux editions all use the same code base. Quite a bit of work was involved in actually getting BA to work on each platform, but they share the same basic code.

The tablets, though, require a completely different language, Java for Android and iOS for iPad, and that would require a complete rewrite of BA. I don't have the time for that.

Also, BA would have to work differently because of the touch interface. Plus several other differences.

The tablet world is still changing rapidly. Maybe someday there will be a way to convert a Mac app to an iPad app, but not yet.

(Rather ironic I typed this on my Android phone)
