When starting BA for the first time after updating to 4.6 I get an error when indexing.
I have a option to open the console or to terminate. In Console I can't see any report.
Please advice. Should I deleted the index files? If so, where are they located?

Sorry for the problem.

This is a permissions issue in the,
/Library/Application Support/Bible Analyzer/Modules/Text folder

Open the "info" on that folder and make it so it is user readable and writable. Then there is a padlock icon at the bottom to allow you to make the changes to the folder contents. Put in your password to unlock and click the option to make changes for all folder contents. The files should index now.

The issue is when making the indexes the data is written back to the module, but if the modules is not writable, it can't and thus the error.

It seems that some of the book modules are not installed with the writable permission. We will try to find them and correct it in the installer.

Tim,

This worked fine for me!
All up and running.

I noticed that the Companion Bible notes are not indexed. These do not show up. Is that correct?

The CB-Notes should display in the Ref. Index Panel as the others. Try going to say John 1:1 and see if the notes show any hits.

Sorry, I do not see the CB notes, only the Appendices.
I checked if the file is Read and Write.

Update: The CB-notes are not showing. I downloaded the pkg file from the site, deleted the old file and installed the new. Then I did reindex. I have all modules loaded with Session Manager.
Please advice.

This doesn't seem to be working for me. I apparently have some issues as well, probably with permissions. I fixed the permissions problem as specified above, and I still cannot start BA 6.2. Here is the terminal output:

I removed my username in the code above and replaced it with USERNAME, so that is why it may look a little funny. I looked at the errors, but couldn't figure out the problem. Look forward to getting this resolved, and using the New BA for Mac!

Look and be sure each file has read/write permissions. In this case d-easton.dct in the Dictionaries folder. That is the one flagged in this report.

Let me know if That helps.

We are in a bad winter storm at the present with no power and soon no internet. Will reply when I can.

Bro. Tim,

Well, stay safe and warm, and reply when you get a chance, no rush. I did indeed chmod 775 all those folders and files (Recursively), the Bible, Commentary, Devotion, Dictionary, Text. After several failed attempts, I even went as far as to remove the Text folder as it seemed to be messing up there. Then I removed all the files, and still didn't work. I then was so far into this, I removed everything in the Bible Analyzer folder in the Library/Application Support folder, removed the actual application, and reinstalled it from the Download, tried again to be foiled. I again double checked the permissions issue, and was unable to get it to run. I may add too, that I even tried the 777 for the permissions. Perhaps I should have rebooted somewhere there?? I'm not sure, but it always seemed to show errors on the martyrs.bk, even after I removed that file, that was the last file it always checked. Even on a clean install? I'm thinking somehow I missed removing a file. At any rate, I restored my 4.55 install, and it is running fine. So I guess I'm going to use that till you get your electric and heat and internet all back up and running. :) Not a problem. Thanks for the help!

Shane

It must still be finding a martyrs.bk file somewhere. You may have to delete the one you know of and search for the other.

Here is a new martyrs bundle with fixed permissions,
http://www.bibleanalyzer.com/Free/BA-Martyrs.pkg

The Younce set is also fixed,
http://www.bibleanalyzer.com/Free/BA-Younce.pkg

See if it works. Let me know.

(I am running my Mac Mini off a generator and getting internet from my cell phone. Power is not expected to be back on for days.)
