HI All,

This is something I have been looking for, but after I installed program and clicked the icon, nothing happens. I am running ubuntu 9.04, 2.8ghz p4 with 2gb of ram. Program installed fine no problems, but as I said when I click the icon, hard drive light flashes a bit and then absolutely nothing.

I was thinking of purchasing this program, but I need to get it to work first. Any ideas?

thanks,
bob

This is a silly question, but one that needs to be asked.

Do you have python installed?
You also need to install wxwidgets, I believe.

When running BA, go to a terminal and cd to the install directory. run the main program, bibleanalyzer3.py, I believe. It should give some errors that may help to find what is wrong. I may be incorrect about the name of the main python script, but if you look at the program names, you should be able to tell. Be sure to run the *.py script.

It has been a while since I ran BA in Linux, but it did run well. I hope this helps

OK, well I started the program in a terminal window like you asked. This is exactly what I get.

and then the cursor just blinks and does not go back to a prompt.

thanks for the help,
Bob

Frankly, I don't know what causes the "magick/xwindow" errors. It seems the app is having trouble finding necessary files.

There are a couple things you can try.

First, do a complete uninstall of Bible Analyzer through Synaptic Package manager or terminal and then run the bibleanalyzer_3.7-2_i386.deb again to reinstall.

If that doesn't work, after installation check and see if you have a '/usr/share/bibleanalyzer/Modules/' folder. If so, copy or move the whole folder and all contents to '/home/USERNAME/.bibleanalyzer/Modules/. Bible Analyzer expects to find the modules in the home/USERNAME folder. They need to be there so the modues can be edited or created. The usr/share folder is owned by root and harder to access.

What does the Bible state about a man looking at his wife lustfully even though he claims to love her? Also, I'm not asking for sarcastic answers that attempt to discredit myself or Christianity. You see, what happened was I speaking with my sister about such a topic, but it was more of a girlfriend/boyfriend type of thing. I think that Bible states you shouldn't look at the female with lust, my sister basically told me that it's okay as long as I have feelings for the female.

This should have been posted in the "Other Topics of Interest" forum.

"What does the Bible state about a man looking at his wife lustfully even though he claims to love her?"

One cannot commit adultery with his wife. The two are already "one flesh." This is not what the Lord was referring to in Matt 5.28. "A woman" there is someone other than a wife. However, a "girlfriend" is not a wife and thus the warning applies.

Wow this is a little old, sorry I should have been here a while ago. Please open a terminal and post the output of this:

Code: Select all

sudo aptitude show python
I had really weird problems when I installed once, because for some reason I had python 2.4 installed, and not python 2.6 installed. BA needs/uses python 2.6 and for some reason if 2.4 is on the system, things are defaulted to that. If you see 2.4 installed, you may need to use synaptic and remove python 2.4 and install python 2.6. It was just an odd issue that I ran into. Hope this helps.

What are your favorite bible quotes from the book of Revelation? I am reading the bible and marking scriptures to remember the bible and map it out. Thanks for any help!
