The dependency is "wxPython 2.8.11" but Linux calls it "python-wxgtk2.8". I just looked and the latest version in the repositories for 10.04 is 2.8.10.1. Actually Bible Analyzer should run with that, but the deb installer won't let it install.

You can try manually installing from the 11.04 release from here,
http://packages.ubuntu.com/natty/python/python-wxgtk2.8

If it will install with its dependencies, Bible Analyzer should then install.

Thanks Tim,

I've tried but Python doesn't automatically install the dependencies when I run the python deb package from that link. I'm running this on a Netbook (old one) and wondering about going up to Ubuntu 11.04 or 12.04 but may not bother, as I don't want to break the "tweaks" I've done to get various things working right on this EEE PC - also I'm running BA 4.5 through Wine which works reasonably well. Would be good to get the native Linux BA 4.5 working, not sure I want to invest the potential hours of upgrading the Linux. Shame.

Thanks for the help.

Paul

Hello Tim

I have been using 4.5 in my personal studies, and have done some exploring and I cannot find any glaring issues. 4.5 for Linux is looking good. I will try to get deeper. If there are specific things you want tested or stressed, let me know.

Thanks for your continued support for Linux. I hope that that can continue. Services are offered if you can use me, let me know. 4.5 is a blessing.

I just received an e-mail from BA. It says the BA 4.5 is available now for Linux, with a link to a download page. However, at the end of the e-mail, it is stated that the Beta BA 4.5 is available in the forum. So I don't know... I have the Beta installed and am now using it, and without any problems. The scrolling and erratic brightness just healed themselves, but I did pray about it. So... should I download the 4.5 version from the linked download page and reinstall as the finished product? If so, I guess it would be best to uninstall the Beta first?

(Tim, sorry about the Derecho. My wife and I pray about that kind of stuff regularly. It's just the times we live in, and I do not refer to global warming. So far, so good, but I want to keep praying. I prayed for you too).

Yes, you should install the new version instead. The User Manual should work now. You should be able to install it overtop the beta, but you can uninstall if you wish.

Thanks very much for your prayers.

Just a minor note, it would be helpful to say in the manual, that one needs to have the 'results' window open to see the 'dual' view mode (or maybe have the result window pop open when one clicks on the 'dual' button, for the dense people like me who don't get how to work it right away :) That threw me for a loop for a while, not seeing the 2nd window in the dual mode, til I checked here to see if the subject was already posted.

Or maybe just have a separate window pop up for the dual viewer, so one can have both the dual and results together side by side (sure why not add another layer.. I might have to get myself a dual-headed display to be able to handle all the windows/views but that's ok :) :)

Glad to have more windows/views :)

We will likely rework the Dual viewer in the future to make it more intuitive.

Thanks.
