This mini word processor allow the user to add notes and comments to any specific Bible Verse,
Chapter, or Book.
The first Tab of the Commentary Panel is always the User Notes & Commentary and is titled
Notes.
The toolbar at the top of the Notes Display has the normal word-processing functions such as
copy, paste, bold, alignment, highlighting, etc. The right two buttons are more geared to Bible
study. One is for making links of Bible references (see below), the other will allow the Notes
Editor to not be synced to the Current Reference.
The right most button will toggle the visibility of the Verse List.
The User Notes Editor can be unsynced from the current Bible reference. Syncing is on by default
but when unsynced, by toggling OFF the toolbar Sync Button, the editor will remain linked to the
reference that was current when it was clicked. This is called the Current Notes Reference. It can
be different from the Current Bible Reference. When the button is toggled ON, the Current Notes
Reference will match the Current Bible Reference. Any changes to the notes will be automatically
saved.
Note:
Any selection from the Verse List will make that the Current Notes Reference regardless
of the position of the Sync Button.
To add notes or commentary to a reference, select the verse, chapter, or book desired and enter
the notes in the editor window. Text formatting tools such as bold, italic, underline, copy, paste,
undo, font style, alignment, etc. are available.
The input is saved automatically to notes.usr in the Bible Analyzer User folder when another
reference is selected or Bible Analyzer is closed. To edit or delete any existing note simply edit it
in place or delete the text and the updated display will be saved as above.
The User Notes & Commentary is flagged like the other commentaries with a Green-Book Icon
(as pictured) when it contains the selected reference. However, it does not have a Verse List. By
default the Verse List is hidden when the Notes Tab is selected.
Formatting and Live References
The Notes Editor will support text background highlighting and live verse references. To highlight
select the desired text and hit the Highlight button in the toolbar.
To make a reference live, select the text and click the Link Button in the Toolbar. Once the dialog
pops up, enter the reference. The reference abbreviation should match the standard Bible
Analyzer abbreviations (as in the Bible Tree i.e. Joh 3:16). Links to websites can also be entered
and will be opened in the default browser.
The Link all References on Page Button will attempt to make links of all references on the page.
Exporting and Converting Notes
User Notes can now be directly exported to Module Creator. If Export User Notes is selected in
the Tools Menu the notes will be saved to user-notes.txt in the users /Documents/Bible Analyzer
User Modules folder (root folder for portable installation) and a dialog will be displayed giving the
option to send the data to Module Creator. In Module Creator the file, path, tab data, and title
data fields will be prepopulated.
